This heirloom variety of cucumber was given to me by an old neighbor, Jim Hie. He had grown these in his family for generations and always saved some seeds for the next year and I was VERY happy the day he introduced us to this variety. These are vigorous growers and LOVE to climb a trellis. The fruits are absolutely delicious right off the vine about half the size of your hand or for any recipe. We make gazpacho all summer with these beauties. The fruits will get quite large (foot size) if left on the vine too long, but suprisingly they hold their sweetness without getting bitter. As they get large, we will peel and seed them before eating. Do yourself a favor and pick them while they are still a nice pale creamy color.
